How to prune orchid roots

How to prune orchid roots

1. Root

Use a sterilized sharp tool to remove the diseased and rotten roots. For plants with fewer roots, do not remove too many roots. You can only remove the root bark, and the central column should be left. As long as it has more than four good roots, all its other rotten roots can be removed.

2. Clearing the nails

If its leaf beetles are not removed in time, there will definitely be many insects parasitic in it, so it is necessary to carry out careful cleaning to make its leaves cleaner. Its dead pseudo-bulbs must also be removed, but you must be careful not to damage its leaf buds and flower buds.

3. Root Pruning

1. First, you need to disinfect sharp tools such as scissors and separate the healthy parts from the diseased plants for better repair.

2. Use different tools for healthy and unhealthy plants to avoid cross-infection.

3. Remove the empty roots, rotten roots, broken roots or shriveled roots, and make sure to preserve the solid root column as much as possible.

4. If the broken roots are relatively fresh, there is no need to remove them. Some black roots are solid and do not need to be removed either.

IV. Precautions

First, the amount of water you give it to help it take root should be determined based on the condition of its roots, weather conditions, and the moisture content of the soil.

Second, when pruning its roots, you should also remove its normally dead leaves.

Third, the diseased leaves must be cleaned up thoroughly. For leaves with diseased core, you can use a small tool to pierce the spots, then treat them with medicine, and then cut them off after new leaves grow.
