How to grow carnations during their flowering period

How to grow carnations during their flowering period

1. Flowering period

First of all, you need to understand its flowering period so that you can be prepared in time to welcome its flowering. The flowering period of carnations is generally from April to September, and it takes about two or three months for potted carnations to bloom and completely wither. If the light conditions vary too much, the flowering period will also change.

2. Maintenance methods

(1) Temperature: It prefers sufficient sunlight and good ventilation. The most suitable temperature for its growth is between 14 and 21 degrees Celsius. If the room temperature is higher than 27 degrees Celsius or lower than 14 degrees Celsius, it will lead to slow growth.

(2) Soil: It is best to choose soil with good fertilizer retention and hydrophobicity. If it contains a large amount of humus, it will promote its growth. You can add 30% to 40% of the volume of coarse organic matter to the soil, or you can use peat to grow it, but you need to mix some perlite into it.

(3) Fertilizer: Generally, the soil used for planting it needs to have appropriate base fertilizer added. If there is no base fertilizer, the amount of fertilizer should be increased appropriately. The fertilizers used are mainly phosphorus fertilizers and potassium fertilizers. Try to use less nitrogen fertilizer. The best frequency of fertilizing is once a week to ten days. Be careful not to sprinkle the fertilizer on the leaves when fertilizing, just bury the fertilizer in the soil at the roots of the plant.

(4) Watering: The flowerpot needs to be watered every day. It is best to place a container that is larger than the flowerpot under the flowerpot to collect excess water after watering. You can give it a little more water when it is blooming.

(5) Thinning branches: If there are too many branches and the stems are in a state of high humidity and lack of sunlight for a long time, the plants are very susceptible to disease. Therefore, it is necessary to properly comb the branches and remove those with yellow leaves and weak branches to avoid plant disease.
