How to remedy a frozen fortune tree

How to remedy a frozen fortune tree

1. Pruning branches and leaves

After the money tree is frozen, the branches and leaves will basically turn yellow and wither, but they usually do not fall off. At this time, all the withered leaves need to be trimmed, and the branches can also be cut off. This will reduce the supply of water and nutrients, which is more conducive to the recovery of the roots and the growth of new shoots.

2. Check the root system

Frostbitten branches and leaves are only superficial; damage to the roots is often more serious. Remove the money tree from the potting soil, but do not disturb the mud. Cut off all exposed dead and damaged roots and replant in a new pot. After planting, add a little more humus to provide nutrients for its recovery.

3. Proper watering

Do not water immediately after planting. You can pour a little water on the edge of the pot to keep it moist for a week. This is the recovery period of the money tree. Too much watering is not good for the root system. If it feels too dry, you can spray water around to increase the humidity of the environment.

4. Increase the temperature

Slowly increase the temperature of the environment. When the temperature is around 20℃, you can spray water on the tree trunk, but there should be no water droplets. You can use a knife to make a wound at the top of the tree, which will encourage it to grow new buds.

5. Maintenance and management

After the new shoots grow out, you can put it in a place with scattered light. Appropriate light is more conducive to its recovery. At the same time, pay attention to air circulation to prevent bacteria from breeding and infecting the wound.
