How to pinch the rubber tree

How to pinch the rubber tree

1. Principle:

In order to make its side branches sprout faster or easier, we need to remove the top buds on the branches or cut off the entire top. Only when the top buds of the main branches are removed can the advantage of continuous growth on the top be eliminated, which can better promote the germination and growth of side buds.

2. Method:

1. Generally, you should wait until the trunk grows to a suitable height before you can pinch the top of the tree, which is about 30 to 50 centimeters. By pinching the top of the tree, you can change its state of upright growth, which can promote the growth of other buds.

2. Generally speaking, the closer the buds are to the top of the branch, the easier it is to germinate. We just need to leave the two to three buds closest to the top. In this way, when the side branches grow out, the entire tree will be in the shape of a cup or a Y. Pinching is very easy to do, but controlling the height is extremely important. If the height chosen for pinching is too high, the shape of the entire tree will appear to be heavy on top and light on the bottom, which will greatly affect its ornamental value.

3. The height can be chosen based on the diameter of the flower pot. The closer the better. But remember, it is better to be lower than too high.

4. If we are faced with some tree trunks that have already become upright, we can use methods such as pruning or bud carving to save them. This will allow side branches to grow on the bare part below, and at the same time change the angle of the main branch and improve its shape.

3. Note:

Generally speaking, the problem of pinching is not too complicated. As long as you follow the above steps, flower lovers don’t have to worry too much about damaging the plants.
