Things to note when repotting succulent plants in summer

Generally speaking, after a year of planting and maintenance of succulents, the roots of the succulents fill the flowerpot, the soil becomes compacted, and the nutrients are basically exhausted, which can no longer meet the growth and development of the succulents. At this time, it is necessary to repot.

1. Newly purchased succulents should generally be cared for 7-10 days before repotting. When repotting in summer, be sure to block the sunlight and try to do it in the morning and evening. Also, choose a cool and ventilated place to avoid high temperature and exposure to evaporate the moisture in the succulents.

2. The new flowerpot needs to be soaked in clean water for 24 hours, and try not to use plastic pots. Choose ceramic pots. The size should be 2-3 cm larger than the succulent. Good air permeability is more conducive to the growth of the plant's roots.

3. After repotting, do not place indoor succulents in an air-conditioned room, let alone directly facing the air outlet of the air conditioner. Move them to a ventilated place with scattered light and a bright environment.

Key points for repotting succulent plants in summer

1. Root pruning and drying

When repotting succulents in the summer, the roots must be pruned, all rotten roots must be trimmed off, and the fibrous roots above the main roots must also be pruned appropriately. After pruning the roots of succulents, they need to be soaked in a diluted solution of carbendazim, and then placed in a cool place to dry naturally for 2 to 3 days.

2. Watering

Do not water the succulent plants immediately after repotting. Generally, water them after a week. Place the succulent plants in a well-ventilated place with diffused light. Do not water them heavily in the later stage. It is better to keep them dry than wet.

3. Soil for repotting

When planting succulents, you need to choose loose, breathable and fertile soil. Spread large-grained crushed coal slag on the bottom of the flowerpot. Large pieces of soil need to be broken up before spreading in the flowerpot.
