Tips for growing azaleas

Tips for growing azaleas

1. Pruning

This kind of plant will drop its flowers during the Spring Festival, but we cannot just leave it alone at this time. We need to cut off its flower heads and those side branches that have grown too long so that it can grow well. In addition, some varieties will bloom more than 200 days after pruning, so we need to prune them every 20 days or so and adjust the shape of the flowers. This can be done four or five times until the end of May. After stopping, the flowers will bloom until the Spring Festival.

2. Soil

The soil we give it can actually be clean pine needle soil without fungi, because this kind of soil is better for its growth. We add a certain amount of carbendazim to this kind of soil and soak it for half an hour, then wash it with clean water. After cleaning the soil on the roots, cut off those excess fibrous roots or dead roots, then put the pine needle soil in and compact the soil, and put it in a cool place.

We must also spray water on the leaves and the soil in the pot frequently to keep the humidity good. White fibrous roots will grow after about half a month. If we want to determine whether it has grown new roots, we can take it out of the pot and observe it. After that, we need to quickly put it back into the pot and compact it.

3. Fertilization

If new roots grow, we can consider applying some fertilizer. Only in this way can it grow better. We can use imported compound fertilizer, and the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other elements is 15. We can use a small amount of fertilizer and sprinkle it on the soil, and we can sprinkle ferrous sulfate to increase its acidity.

Water it afterwards, but when the bottom of the pot starts to leak, we should stop watering. Remember that the soil cannot be too dry before fertilizing, otherwise it will absorb too much fertilizer and may die of dehydration. As for the time of fertilizing, it is generally once every half a month. During its growth period, we can slightly increase the number of fertilizations, which will make it grow better.
