Sponge cuttings, the rooting rate soars!Recently many flower lovers have been doing cuttings, and many have reported that "false life" appeared after cuttings. Although new leaves have grown, no roots have grown. If you use sponge cuttings, the rooting rate can be greatly improved! How to do it:1. Prepare a sponge. Black is the best color because its light-shielding property is more conducive to rapid rooting. Cut the sponge into small squares 3 cm high and 2 cm wide, and use a tool to pierce a hole in the middle of the sponge. 2. Insert the branches to be grafted into the sponge. 3. Pour about 2 cm of water into the bottle and put the sponge into the bottle without covering the bottle cap. 4. You can also use the leftover milk tea cups, and the large mouth of the cup makes it easier to operate. 5. After putting the sponge into the cup, place it on the windowsill to receive sunlight. There is no need to change the water. It will usually take root in about 20 days. Cut the plastic bottle and take out the branches. 6. When potting, just transplant the sponge into the pot. The survival rate is very high. Paper towels promote rooting, high-altitude layering magic tool!Flowers that are not easy to root, such as bougainvillea and camellia, can be propagated by high-altitude layering, and the effect will be better with the help of paper towels! Steps:1. Prepare tissues and an ordinary syringe. 2. Choose a good location for layering, and use a knife to ring the branches by 0.5 to 1 cm, making sure to scrape them cleanly. 3. Dilute the rooting agent with water and apply it to the ring-barking area with a cotton swab. 4. Fold the toilet paper in half, wrap it around the ring, then wrap it with a layer of plastic wrap and tie the two ends with thread. Use a needle to poke a few small holes in the plastic wrap. 5. Draw clean water into the syringe and inject it onto the toilet paper. 6. In order to make the roots grow faster, you can wrap a layer of opaque paper around the plastic wrap. 7. After about 30 days, the roots will grow out of the paper towel, and then you can cut it off and use it for cuttings. Use cuttings from the bottom sand of the fish tank to say goodbye to black rods! Some flowers are prone to rot and black stems when they are propagated through cuttings. Many of them are because the medium is not permeable or contains bacteria. You can try using fish tank bottom sand for cuttings! Steps:1. Prepare some fish tank bottom sand. If you don’t have it at home, you can also use pure vermiculite and wash it several times with clean water. 2. Use potassium permanganate or carbendazim to disinfect the bottom sand (or vermiculite). 3. Insert the branches to be cut into the bottom sand, spray water on the medium every day to maintain humidity. 4. When using fish tank bottom sand for cuttings, there will be basically no black rod phenomenon, and the survival rate is higher than pure vermiculite! It’s hard not to get roots when using cuttings from plastic bottles! Many novices say that they have never succeeded in surviving a plant. Is there a method that has a 100% survival rate and can be used by anyone to survive a plant? It really exists, all you need is a bottle and a piece of foam board! Steps:1. Find a relatively large plastic bottle and cut the upper half of the bottle, but do not cut it off completely. 2. Insert the branches that need to be cut into the foam board and pour one third of clean water into the bottle. Place the foam board into the bottle and let the foam float on the water. Finally, tape the bottle in place. 3. After poke 2 to 3 small holes in the bottle cap, place the bottle in a location with sufficient light. There is no need to change the water. It will take root in about half a month. 4. Don't rush to plant after the roots grow. Untie the tape and put the bottle in a semi-shaded place. Then put it in the pot after 1 to 2 days. The survival rate will be higher. With the paper cup potting method, it is no longer difficult to get cuttings to survive!Sometimes, even though the branches have taken root, they cannot adapt to the environment after being potted, resulting in "dead seedlings" phenomenon, no new shoots, and the stems turning black over time. You can try the paper cup method to avoid this. Steps:1. Find a disposable paper cup and poke a hole in the bottom of the cup. 2. Cover the hole with tape and stretch the tape head a little to make it easier to peel off later. 3. Pour water into the cup. The water level should be about one-third of the cup. 4. Sprinkle a layer of fine soil in the cup, then lift the branch and place it in the cup. When the roots just touch the fine soil, continue to sprinkle the soil. Do not press with your hands during the process. 5. After planting, you can remove the tape and the excess water will leak out from the small hole. Place the paper cup in a shaded location. After about a week, when the soil is dry, the seedlings will be ready for acclimatization. No watering is needed during the process. 6. After the soil is dry, cut the paper cup and plant it directly in the new pot with the soil. In this way, the survival rate of potting is basically 100%, perfectly avoiding the problem of "easy to take root, difficult to survive"! That’s all the little knowledge about cutting methods. Do you feel that cuttings have become easier after reading this? You can try it when you have time! |
