Succulent

April is almost here, and this period is the golden season for the growth of succulents. Repotting, cuttings, fertilizing... While you are busy, you should pay attention to the following points, otherwise all your work will be in vain!

1. Change pots and soil

It is best to use new soil when repotting succulents. After the soil is changed, no fertilizer is needed for the next six months. The soil should be breathable, slightly acidic nutrient soil, and the bottom of the pot should be padded with some large-particle planting materials such as expanded clay.

2. Be careful about exposure

We all know that succulents are easier to grow outdoors, but now the temperature difference between day and night in the north is relatively large, so it is best to gradually increase the daily outdoor cultivation time, and not suddenly expose them to the sun all day, which can easily kill the succulents.

3. Flower arrow pruning

After the succulent plants grow flower arrows, if you do not plan to keep the seeds for sowing and propagation, cut them off as soon as possible. Otherwise, the flower arrows will take away a lot of nutrients, and your succulents will become uglier and uglier.

Pothos

The green ivy is a climbing plant. If it is well cared for, it can easily grow one meter in a month, and its leaves are shiny green!

1. Proper lighting

Pothos is relatively shade-tolerant, but it cannot be without sunlight for too long. Move it to the balcony to dry in the sun on time, 2 hours each time is enough, and avoid long periods of exposure to the sun.

2. Water correctly

If you water too much in soil, the roots will rot. Normally, you can wait until the topsoil is dry before watering. Even if the leaves are a little wilted, they will recover quickly after watering.

3. Apply thin fertilizer frequently

If the green radish lacks fertilizer, it will not grow well and its leaves will be thin and small. You can use fish tank water, or fermented liquid fertilizer, diluted with 50 times clean water to irrigate the roots. Use 1-2 times a month to make the leaves of the green radish thick and green!

Clivia

If the Clivia variety is good, it is normal to sell it for thousands of dollars. If you can’t afford expensive goods, just learn how to make ordinary goods look like expensive ones!

1. Repot and apply base fertilizer

Spring and autumn are the seasons for repotting Clivia. You can sprinkle a dozen roasted original melon seeds at the bottom of the pot. This is a great slow-release fertilizer for Clivia.

2. Uniform lighting

Many people grow Clivia with uneven leaves and an ugly plant shape. This is because the leaves of Clivia are phototropic. Normally, you should turn the pot once a week to allow the leaves on both sides to receive even light, so that the leaves will be neat.

3. Wipe the blades frequently

Clivia has large leaves and is prone to dust accumulation, so it is best to wipe the leaves once a month or so. When wiping, wring the cloth a little dry to avoid water flowing into the center of the leaf. You can also drop a few drops of beer into the water when wiping the leaves, and the leaves will be brighter after wiping!

Gardenia

Gardenia, azalea and camellia, the three "King Kongs", have repeatedly frustrated countless novice flower growers. If you want to grow gardenias well and have them bloom more, you need to pay attention to the following points!

1. Slightly acidic soil

The acidity and alkalinity of the soil is one of the key points in growing gardenias. You can buy some ferrous sulfate and add some when watering the flowers, using it 1 to 2 times a month. It not only increases soil acidity, but also replenishes iron. This way the leaves won't turn yellow.

2. Maintain humidity

Gardenias like moisture, but the "moisture" here refers to the air humidity, not frequent watering. Spray water on the leaves and around the flower pots frequently to create a moist small environment. The climate in the north is relatively dry, and gardenias are prone to drying up and losing leaves, especially large-leaf gardenias.

3. Apply fertilizer correctly

If gardenia lacks fertilizer, it may not bloom, or bloom less. You can dilute potassium dihydrogen phosphate with water to a concentration of about 0.2%. If there are flower buds, be careful not to spray the leaves, but only the roots, otherwise the buds will fall off.

Kalanchoe

Kalanchoe is beautiful and easy to grow. It can bloom beautifully with simple care. Learn the following tips to keep your Kalanchoe blooming until May!

1. Pruning of dead flowers

Some of the Kalanchoe flowers have already withered, so it is time to prune the branches that have bloomed, just two pairs of leaves below the withered flowers. About one month after cutting, flower buds will grow again!

2. Apply fertilizer in time

If you want the Kalanchoe to bloom continuously, you need to provide it with enough nutrition. You can bury 3 to 5 grains of compound fertilizer shallowly in the flowerpot. Or you can water it with 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate to supplement the nutrients of the Kalanchoe.

3. Control watering

Kalanchoe cannot be waterlogged, especially during the flowering period. It is sufficient to water it 2 to 3 times a month. Too much watering will cause the flowers to wither earlier, and proper water control can double the flowering period!

That’s all for today’s tips on growing flowers.
