Can I use vinegar to water my green radish?

1. Can I use vinegar to water?

It is best not to use it. There are many sayings now that vinegar can be used instead of water to water this plant, but this is actually wrong. Although vinegar contains acetic acid, which can appropriately supplement the nutrients needed for plant growth, the effect is not great. Because it is an organic matter, it is better to directly use some inorganic nutrients like ferrous sulfate instead of using it.

Furthermore, the ingredients contained in different types of vinegar are not exactly the same. Some also contain NaCl, which is not so friendly to plants. It can change the salinity of the flower soil and the osmotic pressure of the solution therein, and will affect the speed at which the plant roots absorb nutrients from the soil.

2. Other functions

Although vinegar cannot be used directly as a substitute for water, it does have some other benefits for the growth of this plant.

① Improve soil quality. We all know that this plant prefers slightly acidic soil, and if we don’t have the conditions to get this kind of soil, it will be very troublesome. Vinegar can be used at this time. Improve the soil quality and lower the pH value of the flower soil to make it more suitable for the growth of this plant.

②Wipe the leaf surface. The leaves of this plant are shiny and bright green and very beautiful, but they often accumulate dust or become dull and lose their luster. At this time, we can also use vinegar. We can use cotton or toilet paper to dip some vinegar and wipe the surface of the leaves. Soon it will be shiny again.

3. Usage

① If you use paper to improve the soil quality, you need to dissolve it in water at a ratio of 1:50, then pour it into the flower soil and mix evenly. Please note that the effect may not be immediate when using this method at first, but after a period of time, the pH of the flower soil will slowly drop.

② If you use it to wipe leaves, you should dissolve it in water in a ratio of one to two, then dip some with cotton or toilet paper, and gently wipe the problematic leaf surface.
