The difference between Hawaiian coconut and Areca palm

1. Leaf Difference

The leaves of Hawaiian coconut mostly grow in the middle and upper part of the stem. The leaves are pinnate-divided, the lobes are lanceolate, the leaves are alternate, the leaf color is dark green, and the surface is shiny.

The leaves of the Areca palm are pinnately divided, with a flat leaf surface and slightly curved downward. They are about 1.5 meters long and usually have 40 to 60 pairs of pinnae arranged in two rows. The leaves are yellow-green with a waxy white powder on the surface. They are lanceolate in shape, 35 to 50 cm long and 1.2 to 2 cm wide.

2. Flower Differences

The flowers of Hawaiian coconut are fleshy spadixes, axillary at the nodes in the middle and upper part of the stem, and are pink in color.

The inflorescence of the Areca palm grows under the leaf sheath and is a cone-shaped inflorescence that grows longer than 0.8 meters. The flowers are small, ovoid, and golden in color.
