Gardenia rooting in water

Spring is here, and it's time for gardenias to grow again. Cuttings are easiest to take root at this time, so why not give it a try?

Water plugging steps:

1. Prepare a larger Coke bottle and use scissors to cut a hole in the upper half of the bottle. Be careful not to cut it off completely, just leave a part on one side.

2. Prepare the gardenia branches needed for cuttings. It is best to choose strong semi-lignified branches with a length of about 7-10cm. You can leave 1-2 leaves on the branches and cut the lower end at a 45° angle.

3. Prepare a piece of foam board and use scissors to cut the foam board into a circle like a coke bottle, which should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the coke bottle. Then insert the branches to be grafted into the foam board.

4. Put the foam board in a Coke bottle, add water, and soak the lower end of the gardenia branches in the water. Because the foam board will float on the water, the leaves will not rot. Finally, seal the opening of the bottle with tape, put on the bottle cap, and poke a few holes in the bottle cap for ventilation.

5. Place the Coke bottle in a place where the sun shines indoors. The gardenia leaves in the bottle will carry out photosynthesis to promote rooting. If more water droplets are produced on the inner wall of the bottle, it proves that the temperature inside the bottle is higher and the rooting is faster.

6. It only takes about 7-10 days for the gardenia cuttings planted in the Coke bottle to grow white roots!

Bougainvillea water cutting rooting

Bougainvillea has a variety of colors and blooms for more than half a year. If it can be grafted, it will be even more colorful and beautiful!

Water plugging steps:

1. Buy a few transparent acrylic tubes, and then cut them into small pieces of about 7-10cm in length with a knife for later use.

2. Prepare strong bougainvillea branches, peel off the bark about 2 cm from the lower end of the branch to prevent skin rot, then wrap the cut non-woven fabric around the branch, with one end of the fabric flush with the lower end of the branch.

3. Insert the bougainvillea branches together with the non-woven fabric into the plexiglass tube. This not only ensures that the branches are moist and breathable, but also prevents the cuttings from rotting.

4. Prepare a plastic tray, add 2 cm of water into the tray, add some rooting powder and stir it, then put the bougainvillea cuttings in it.

5. In about 5-7 days, many small white spots will appear at the bottom of the bougainvillea cuttings. You can prepare to pot it at this time, or you can wait until the small white dots emerge and turn into roots before potting it.

6. Cut the napkins into strips, moisten them with water, and then wrap them around the branches starting from the roots. Wrapping the branches with toilet paper can temporarily isolate the organic matter in the soil from the tender roots when they are cut, making it easier for them to take root.

7. The soil for cuttings can be prepared with perlite, vermiculite and peat soil. Cut the plastic bottle, evenly burn 3-5 holes on the bottom of the bottle, then pad the bottom with vermiculite, and then fill the plastic bottle with nutrient soil mixed with peat soil and perlite.

8. Place the bougainvillea branches in the nutrient soil in a plastic bottle, cover the seedlings with the upper end of the plastic bottle, water it thoroughly once, and place it on a sunny windowsill. In less than a month, you will see the roots of the bougainvillea coming out from the bottom of the plastic bottle.

9. Use scissors to cut open the plastic bottle, being careful not to loosen the soil carried by the roots. Then transplant it into a larger flowerpot and place it in a cool and ventilated place for 1 week. Then place it directly in the sun.

Green radish rooting in water

Huahua recently trimmed some green ivy and left a lot of branches. These branches can take root when thrown into water and will soon become a new pot of green ivy!

Water plugging steps:

1. Choose those strong branches of green radish, and then cut them into small sections of about 5-7cm.

2. Prepare a small bottle filled with water. The water level should be about 2/3 of the bottle. Then insert the lower end of the branch into the water and place it in a place with bright scattered light.

3. It only takes about a week for the water-planted green ivy to sprout small roots.

4. After the green radish has taken root, you can continue to keep it in the bottle for care, or you can prepare loose and breathable nutrient soil and transplant the rooted green radish into a flowerpot for cultivation, which will allow the green radish to grow quickly!

Kalanchoe rooting in water

The Kalanchoe plants in many flower lovers’ homes have recently reached the stage of withering. Don’t throw away the branches cut off during pruning. Put them directly in water and they will become a new pot of Kalanchoe in minutes!

Water plugging steps:

1. From the pruned Kalanchoe branches, select the strong branches and prune them slightly. Leave 2-3 leaves on each cutting.

2. Soak the Kalanchoe branches in rooting water for about 20 minutes. After drying, insert them into clean water. Dip the lower end of the branches in a little water, and then place them in a place with good scattered light for maintenance.

3. It only takes about 7-10 days for the water-planted Kalanchoe to grow white roots.

4. After rooting, you can choose to continue to maintain it in the hydroponic bottle and admire the white roots, or you can directly transfer it to a flowerpot and grow it in soil. It will soon bloom out of the pot!
