How to propagate aloe vera by cuttings and how to manage it after cuttings

1. Method of cutting propagation

1. Time selection: When aloe vera is cut, the temperature should be kept at around 20 degrees, which is most suitable for rooting and growth, so spring around April is the best time. If the temperature is below 20 degrees, the survival rate of cuttings will decrease.

2. Cut leaves: Suitable aloe leaves are an important factor in cuttings. You can choose a vigorously growing aloe plant and select a sturdy leaf that is more than 8 cm in length. Prepare a sterilized knife and cut off the selected leaves.

3. Let the incision dry: After the leaves are cut, there will be juice at the cut, so it is difficult for the cuttings to take root in the soil. They need to be placed aside to dry until a thin film grows on the cut surface.

4. Prepare the potting soil: Before cutting, you need to choose the flower pot and soil. The flower pot should be breathable and have holes at the bottom for drainage. The soil should be loose and fertile sandy soil.

5. Carry out cuttings: Add soil to the flowerpot and insert the aloe leaves into it, making sure the leaves are upright and not falling over.

2. How to manage after cutting

After cuttings, they cannot be placed under strong light. A diffuse light environment is more suitable for rooting. Maintain a warm environment, water regularly to keep it moist, and it will take root after a period of time.
