How to care for Mo Lan when it blooms

How to care for Mo Lan when it blooms

1. When does it bloom?

This flower blooms only once a year, and due to different temperatures, the time it blooms can be early or late. If you are in Guangzhou, you can see its flowers around the Spring Festival. If it is in Zhejiang area, its flowering period is the same as that of spring orchid.

However, it also has varieties that bloom in autumn and varieties that bloom in late winter and early spring. When it blooms depends largely on the temperature. Its flowers have a particularly strong fragrance and vary greatly in color, generally purple, but also white, pink, and yellow-green.

2. How to care during flowering

1. Temperature. It is best to keep the temperature above 12 degrees during its flowering stage. If you want it to bloom again in the second year, you need more sunlight. Normally the temperature in the house should not be too high, otherwise it will easily get sick in the spring.

2. Add fertilizer. When it is blooming, you can use special flower fertilizer to sprinkle fertilizer on its leaves once every ten days, and irrigate its roots once every half a month. This can help its bulbs grow stronger and fuller and store enough nutrients. It can also improve its ability to withstand severe winters, the quality of the flowers will be better, and the chance of growing seedlings will be greater. After the flowers grow, use more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and you can cut off the flower arrows 10-15 days after flowering.

3. Water and soil. The substrate should be mixed with rotten leaf soil, peat and garden soil, and then decomposed. When adding water, use clean water, not tap water directly. If you take care of it normally, you need to water it once a day during hot weather, and once every four or five days in severe winter.
