What to do after Gloxinia blooms

What to do after Gloxinia blooms

1. Beheading:

1.Why beheading? If the plant is not cut off after flowering, it will only grow rapidly upwards and may lean to the other side because it is too high or too heavy, completely losing its beauty. However, after beheading, the severed part of the plant will grow again and form another vibrant plant.

2. If you want to behead this kind of plant, you need to be careful. No matter whether you are cutting off the part or the part being cut off, it must sprout. If there is no sprout, do not cut it. Just leave one bud on each plant.

3. Prepare containers according to the number of plants cut down. Fill the containers with clean perlite. Then dig a hole in the middle of the perlite, carefully insert the branches of the plant, and press it tightly with the surrounding perlite.

4. Then water the perlite, but be sure not to let the water get on its leaves, because once the leaves get wet they will easily rot. Water the soil just enough so that the perlite does not float.

5. You can keep observing it after that. If you find that the leaves are wilting, you can water it. It will slowly grow a root ball, and it will grow flowers around July, which is the next flowering period.

2. Seed retention:

1. If you don't need it to bloom again, you can save the bulbs during the last flowering period of the year, which is after August, and cut off its leaves and stems, leaving 3 to 4 cm for long-term use. The bulbs should be stored in the sand in time, and the surrounding temperature should be above 5 degrees. It is best to keep the sand clean, neither wet nor dry.

2. When the spring comes, the bulbs will sprout. At this time, you can keep 2 to 3 seedlings and transplant them to pots for continued maintenance.
