Cultivation methods and precautions of jujube trees

Cultivation methods and precautions of jujube trees

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: The jujube tree requires the soil to have strong water and fertilizer retention capabilities, which can effectively prevent water and fertilizer loss. When preparing the soil, you can mix humus soil + sandy soil + garden soil.

2. Light: The jujube tree loves sunlight very much. Most fruit trees require longer sunshine, so try to place it in the sun as much as possible and provide appropriate shade at noon in summer.

3. Watering: If it is a potted jujube tree, it needs to be watered on time. However, it is drought-resistant to a certain extent, so you can water it when the soil in the pot is dry. For those planted in the ground, you need to train the seedlings and let them find water sources on their own, but they still need to be watered from time to time.

4. Fertilizer: During its growth period, mainly apply organic liquid fertilizer and 0.3% urea to supplement the required minerals. When it comes to fruiting in autumn, phosphorus fertilizer and potassium dihydrogen phosphate should be applied to improve the quality of the fruit.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: The pruning of jujube trees is divided into two seasons: spring and winter. The main method is combing the branches, which is used to cut off dense and diseased branches to increase the permeability of the plant. The second is pruning, the main purpose of which is to stimulate new branches and increase the number of fruits.

2. Reproduction: The most common method of reproduction is grafting. There are six key points to grafting jujube trees: "fresh, flat, tight, accurate, fast and wet". The cut surface of the scion should be flat. When it is fresh, tie it quickly to the rootstock, then bury it in the soil and keep it moist.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Yellow leaves: The yellowing of leaves on jujube trees is mostly due to iron deficiency, which results in reduced fruit yield. When watering it, you can add boric acid, citric acid, etc. to the water fertilizer to adjust the pH value of the water so that it can better absorb iron ions.

2. Wilting: The leaves and branches of the jujube tree wilt generally because of lack of water. In addition, strong sunlight will cause the leaves and branches to wilt. In this case, just replenish water in time.

IV. Other issues

1. Is it edible? The fruit of the jujube tree is edible, tastes sweet and is very delicious. What you grow yourself is the same as what is sold on the market, and you can feel more at ease eating what you grow yourself.

2. Can it be grown indoors? It is generally not recommended to grow jujube trees indoors. The indoor lighting and ventilation are relatively poor, and jujube trees need sufficient sunlight to grow, so it is recommended to grow them outdoors.
