How to make Gloxinia bloom

How to make Gloxinia bloom

1. Matrix

If you want it to bloom out of the pot, you must first prepare the substrate. The soil in the pot can be made by mixing some rotten leaves, animal feces and soil. If you have perlite, you can add that in.

2. Watering

If you want the flowers to bloom well, you must water them well. Don’t add too much water under normal circumstances, otherwise the roots and stems will easily rot, the leaves will wither, and in severe cases the entire plant will die. In the hot summer, you need to water the plants once or twice a day, and spread the water evenly. During the flowering period, don't let it get wet by rain. In winter, the soil in the pot should be a little drier, not too wet.

3. Lighting

Always maintain good lighting so that the flowers will bloom well. It doesn't like very strong sunlight, half sun is enough, so don't expose it to strong sunlight during its growth period. In summer, it should be placed in a sheltered place with good ventilation, otherwise the leaves will wither and the flowers will not look good. The temperature it likes is 10 to 25 degrees, but the temperature it requires is different in different seasons. From January to October, it is 18 to 25 degrees, and from October to January of the following year, it requires 10 to 12 degrees. Only when the temperature is suitable can it grow green leaves and beautiful flowers.

4. Fertilization

It likes fertilizer very much. From the time its leaves grow out to the time it blooms, it needs to be fertilized once a week. You can apply organic liquid fertilizer. Add phosphorus fertilizer when the flower buds grow out. Do not contaminate the leaves when adding fertilizer. Wash the leaves with water after each addition to keep them clean.

5. Pinching

Before it blooms, you need to prune the branches and leaves and cut off the top branches, so that more side branches can grow and more flowers can bloom. Pinching should be done early so as not to affect the opening and formation of the flowers. After flowering, if the leaves around the flowers affect the growth of the flowers, you can also cut off the leaves as needed, so that the flowers can bloom out of the pot and be more ornamental. After pruning, the flowers can bloom into about eighteen, which is the peak of the pot, and it is very stunning and beautiful.
