How to prolong the flowering period of Gloxinia

How to prolong the flowering period of Gloxinia

1. Temperature:

Generally speaking, this kind of flower requires an environmental temperature between 18 and 25 degrees from January to October, and 10 to 12 degrees after October. Based on this, we can provide it with a growing environment of 18 to 25 degrees during its flowering period, so that it can grow more comfortably, and the flowering time will naturally be extended.

2. Lighting:

This plant usually needs shade to grow and cannot adapt to too strong light. During its flowering period, we should increase the shading time to prevent it from receiving too much light and causing it to be unable to grow normally. This practice can effectively prevent the flowers from withering quickly, thereby extending their flowering period.

3. Matrix:

If you want to prolong its flowering period, you must take good care of its roots when cultivating it. Its root system is relatively weak and capillary, and cannot adapt to soil that is too wet or very sticky. Therefore, when cultivating it, it should be replaced with loose soil with good drainage and air permeability. We can grow it with a mixture of leaf mold, vermiculite, pine needles, and already decomposed mushroom fertilizer. This can also effectively provide nutrients for the growth of its flower buds.

4. Fertilization:

This kind of flower needs a lot of fertilizer when it blooms, and if you want to extend the flowering period, it will consume more nutrients, so we must replenish nutrients in time. From the time its leaves unfold until it blooms, it must be added with thin cake fertilizer water every week. When flower buds are formed, bone meal or phosphorus fertilizer should be applied.
