Flowering period control of climbing roses

Flowering period control of climbing roses

Preliminary preparation

Although roses can bloom every month, they also have an optimal flowering period. In August of each year, while ensuring that the environment, nutrients and other conditions are all good, the flowering period of climbing roses should be extended as much as possible to allow them to bloom more. You can achieve this effect by following the method below. If you want it to bloom in August, you should start preparing in mid-June. We need to remove the flowers that have bloomed or are about to wither after their peak blooming period in order to more reasonably allocate nutrients and other resources. Save nutrients for the branches that are about to bloom. Wait until the end of June and repeat the above steps, because the next flowering time will probably be in early August, and we need to be prepared for the best flowering period.

In fact, the actual flowering period control still depends on the flowering interval of the roses in your area. If you can calculate the flowering period more accurately, then you should perform the above pruning about one and a half months before the expected flowering period.

In addition to proper pruning, the supply of fertilizer and water for roses is also important. If you observe that the remaining flower branches after pruning do not sprout, you need to fertilize once a week with fertilizer water containing a very small amount of urea.

How to Promote Flowering of Climbing Roses

1. Sunshine. Try to ensure eight hours or more of sunlight a day, while avoiding excessive sunlight.

2. Climbing roses will go dormant when the temperature reaches above 33 degrees Celsius. It is best to place them in an environment of 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Therefore, you should pay attention to the timing of light in the summer. In order to better reduce the temperature and achieve the purpose of moisturizing, you can spray the plants lightly in the summer evening to reduce the temperature.
