How to control the flowering period of Verbena serrata

How to control the flowering period of Verbena serrata

1. Flowering time

In fact, the blooming period of the petunia is not short. It is about August, starting in April and ending in November.

2. Control Methods

Generally, we adopt the method of pinching, which can easily control the flowering period. In addition, pinching has other functions, including increasing its branches and maintaining its shape.

3. Specific methods

1. First determine the time you want it to bloom. This can be said to be our fundamental purpose. Only by setting this time can we determine the time for subsequent operations.

2. Pinch the top 23-25 days in advance.

3. Then put it in a well-lit place and take care of it carefully.

IV. Precautions

Although the plant itself has a long flowering period, the flowers may wither when needed. So when necessary, we must prepare in advance so that it can bloom on time when needed.

If we need to put it out during the National Day, then our final pinching can be done between September 5th and 8th. In addition, if we need to see it bloom on July 1st, we can do the final pinching on June 6th or 9th. So the general rule is to pinch the tops in the previous month.

But in fact, this is not specific. Different varieties require different pinching times to control the peak flowering period. For example, in the city of Zhengzhou, the time required for our white petunias from pinching to flowering is 23 days, while the pink one is 24 days, the rose-red one is a few days less, at 21 days, the bright red one is 22 days, and the purple one is 23 days. We can adjust the time of pinching according to actual conditions.
