How to grow Chlorophytum comosum hydroponica

How to grow Chlorophytum comosum hydroponica

Hydroponics Method

Water preparation and disinfection

Clean the glass bottle and pour half a bottle of clean water into it, preferably cooled boiled water. (If you use tap water, you need to place it outdoors in the sun for a few days to remove the chlorine.) At the same time, disinfect the blade of the scissors that will be used to cut the branches.

Dry the branches

Use sterilized scissors to cut the longer branches of the Chlorophytum comosum into several short sections, the length of which should be about ten centimeters higher than the glass bottle. Then keep the upper part of the shorter branches intact, and remove the leaves and side branches from the lower part. After doing these things, take clean things and spread them flat in a ventilated, cool and dry place. Put the cut short sections on them to dry the wounds. Remember not to let the branches be contaminated by unclean things, as they are easily infected with bacteria and cause branch necrosis.

Insert the branches into the water

Insert the dried wounded branches into a glass bottle, with the lower part submerged in water for about five centimeters. Then place the glass bottle in a ventilated and cool place. It is best to keep the temperature between 15 and 20 degrees. It will take root in about a week. The lower the temperature, the slower the rooting will be, and it may even take more than a month in winter.

After it takes root, you can continue to cultivate it in water, or you can move it into a flowerpot and cultivate it in soil.

Precautions

Water changes

If the temperature is high in the early stage of hydroponic cultivation of Chlorophytum comosum, in order to prevent the water from deteriorating, you need to change the water every three days or so. If the temperature is low in winter, you only need to change the water every fifteen days or so. No nutrient solution needs to be added during the rooting process.

illumination

The hydroponic Chlorophytum must not be placed directly under the scorching sun, which will cause the branches to wilt quickly. It should be placed in a cool place with sufficient light.
