What temperature is suitable for gardenia?

1. Suitable temperature

Gardenia is suitable for growing at a temperature of 16 to 18 degrees. If the temperature is suitable, it will grow vigorously and the flowers will bloom more beautifully. This temperature is basically sufficient in spring and autumn, but you need to be careful in summer and winter. In summer, it should be placed in a well-ventilated place and sprayed with water to cool it down. It should be moved indoors in winter, and the minimum temperature should not be lower than 5 degrees, but it should not be too high, not higher than 12 degrees, otherwise it will not be conducive to wintering.

2. Suitable lighting

It is a light-loving plant but is afraid of direct sunlight. Therefore, when placing it, you should pay attention to placing it in a place without direct light and just give it diffuse light. Especially in summer, the sunlight is strong and you should avoid it, otherwise you will get sunburned.

3. Water appropriately

Normally water the soil when it is dry and water when it is wet. If the soil is too wet, the roots will rot. Water should be applied every two or three days in spring and autumn, and once a day in summer, and water more often. In winter, you need to control watering, once a week is enough. Generally, you should water more when the temperature is high and less when the temperature is low.

4. Scientific fertilization

It likes fertilizer. If it is grown in a potted plant, base fertilizer should be applied when planting it, and top dressing should be applied during the growth period. Apply thin fertilizer frequently. Usually it needs to be applied once every ten days or so, using cake fertilizer water. After buds appear, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to promote flowering. After autumn, you need to control the amount of fertilizer to avoid excessive growth and frost damage.
