How Jade Lotus Spends Summer

How Jade Lotus Spends Summer

1. Lighting

As a succulent plant whose homeland is South Africa, Africa, it naturally loves sunlight very much, so it does not need to avoid long-term exposure to sunlight like other plants. Even in summer, you can always keep it in the sun.

Of course, if the temperature is too high, such as close to 40℃, appropriate shading is also needed. It cannot be kept in a high-temperature environment without ventilation for a long time. Always pay attention to providing it with a good ventilation environment.

2. Watering

Spring is the best time for Jade Lotus to grow, and summer is basically its dormant period. During the dormant period, you must reduce the frequency and amount of watering, and avoid water accumulation in the soil, otherwise the roots will not be able to absorb water quickly and will rot.

If it is rainy in the summer, there is naturally no need to water the plant. For normal watering, try to use a spray bottle. Just spray a small amount of water on the leaves so that the water can remain on the leaves in the form of droplets without forming a stream.

3. Soil

Jade Lotus is not delicate, so it does not have many requirements for the soil. It only needs the soil to meet basic conditions, but it must be breathable.

If you want the jade lotus to grow better, you can mix peat, perlite, etc. into ordinary soil. The mixing ratio can be adjusted according to your preference, and then add some river sand on the soil surface. If you can do the above points, I believe the jade lotus will be able to survive the summer safely.

IV. Other matters needing attention

The main difference between summer and other seasons is that the temperature is high, which leads to a decrease in the frequency of corresponding cell activities in the body. Therefore, this should be fully taken into consideration when maintaining the plant. The amount and frequency of watering should be controlled in hot and humid weather. Although the Jasper Lotus's hometown is in South Africa, it has now been transplanted into a home potted plant and also requires careful maintenance. Pay attention to placing it in a relatively cool environment in summer.
