When is the best time to transplant cedar?

For larger cedars, changing the planting area will seriously affect the survival rate of the plants. If it is in the north, the cedar young branches are generally used for transplanting after they have become lignified.

Cedar is an evergreen coniferous plant, which is usually transplanted in March or April in spring. If it is transplanted in autumn, it is easily affected by cold winds and frost, resulting in late rooting and low survival rate, which is not conducive to plant survival.

1. Treatment before transplanting

Before transplanting cedar, you need to cut off all the dense branches, too long branches, and diseased and insect-infested branches, and then apply wound healing agent to the wounds. This can reduce the loss of water in the cedar during the transplanting process.

2. Transplanting method

When digging cedar, you need to remove the surface soil first. If you encounter thick roots, you need to saw them off. Then plant them in new soil, flatten the surrounding soil, and water them three times. The three times of watering can be completed within a week.

Management of cedar after transplanting

After the cedar is transplanted and planted, wait until the plant grows new buds again, you can often spray water mist on the leaves, but it is not advisable to cause water accumulation. After 20 days, water it thoroughly again and give it long-day care.
