How to plant Vinca seeds

How to plant Vinca seeds

1. Sowing time

The seeds of Vinca vine are very small, with one gram containing seven to eight hundred seeds. August to September is the period when the seeds mature and can be collected at this time. However, seeds are usually sown in April in spring, when the temperature warms up and the temperature and sunshine are more suitable.

2. Sowing Method

1. It can be planted outdoors or in pots. Mix fine sand, culture soil and leaf mold to make the sowing medium, and disinfect it before potting.

2. It is recommended to choose a sowing tray as the container, put the above-mentioned sowing medium into it, and then put the seeds on it. Water with a spray bottle until the substrate is moist. Avoid excess water.

3. Place the sowing tray in an environment with a temperature of about 20℃ and wait for two to three weeks for the seeds to germinate.

3. Post-maintenance

1. Repotting

After the seeds germinate and grow into seedlings, they can be transplanted when they have six leaves. When transplanting, choose a flower pot with a diameter of ten centimeters and ensure that the flower pot has good drainage. A maximum of three plants can be placed in one pot.

2. Topping

After transplanting, the seedlings will adapt to the new environment after a period of time. When they grow to eight centimeters, they can be topped off. This can promote the growth of new branches, so there will be more flowering branches and better ornamental value.

3. Maintenance

After the plant growth stabilizes in the later stage, fertilizer can be applied about once every two weeks to ensure the nutrition of the soil. The flowers bloom in late May and last until November, with a flowering period of more than five months. During this period, pay attention to the growth of flower branches and remove any remaining flowers in time to avoid affecting the growth of other branches.

4. Lighting

To prevent the leaves from turning yellow, place them outside in exposure to sunlight in a timely manner to ensure good air permeability and drainage of the soil. In winter, you need to move it indoors, or build a heat-insulating shed to keep the temperature above five degrees. When watering, don't give too much, just leave it slightly moist while dry.
