How to care for rock peony in four seasons

Spring care of rock peony

In spring, rock peony should be placed in a place with sufficient light. After the temperature rises, the rock peony begins to resume growth, and the amount of watering needs to be gradually increased. When the outdoor temperature is stable at above 15℃, you can place it outside on the balcony for maintenance. This is also a suitable time to change the pot. During the peak growing season of rock peony, watering should be done alternately between dry and wet conditions. Avoid making the soil too wet. It is best to water after the soil in the pot is completely dry. When the temperature is high in late spring, appropriate shade is needed at noon.

Summer care of rock peony

In summer, excessive light can easily cause the sphere to wrinkle, so avoid long-term direct exposure to strong light in summer. You can place the rock peony in a place with morning and evening light. At this time, the rock peony grows slowly, so you need to control watering to keep the soil in the pot dry to prevent the bulb from rotting due to high temperature and humidity. When the temperature cools in late summer, resume alternate dry and wet watering.

Autumn care of rock peony

In autumn, the rock peony should be placed in a place with sufficient light and watered after the soil is dry. As the temperature begins to drop, you can slowly reduce the amount of watering to keep the soil in the pot dry but not too dry. It should be moved to a sunny enclosed balcony in time before frost.

Winter care of rock peony

Ensure sufficient light in winter. The temperature should be kept above 10°C, but it does not need to be too high. In winter, rock peony enters a dormant period and generally does not need to be watered, just keep the soil dry.
