How to fertilize Clivia and what fertilizer to use

How to fertilize Clivia and what fertilizer to use

1. Fertilization time

Clivia has a relatively high demand for fertilizer. First of all, when planting or repotting, base fertilizer is necessary, which is very important for its subsequent growth. Generally speaking, repotting is only necessary once every two years.

2. Fertilizer Types

The base fertilizer used is some solid fertilizer, such as animal manure or some compost. During the growth period, you can use some solid fertilizers or liquid fertilizers for top dressing.

3. Fertilization method

1. After selecting the base fertilizer and preparing the substrate, you can mix them evenly and then plant the plants. If you choose solid fertilizer for topdressing, you can dig the soil, about 2-3 cm is better, and then bury it; if you choose liquid fertilizer, just dilute it and sprinkle it on the surface of the soil. Regardless of the method, the amount needs to be strictly controlled.

2. You don’t need to fertilize Clivia too often. The interval can be 20-30 days. The specific interval can be adjusted according to its growth status. If the growth rate is slow, you can fertilize it more often.

IV. Precautions

1. You can water once 2-3 days after fertilizing, which can dilute the soil.

2. In addition, if the Clivia is in a dormant state, it is not suitable to fertilize it. Resume fertilizing after the dormant period.
