How to fertilize roses in winter

How to fertilize roses in winter

one. Regarding the frequency of fertilization of roses in winter:

Before the beginning of winter, you can apply a high concentration of cake fertilizer, or you can use sustainable and effective organic fertilizer, such as decomposed fertilizer, and turn the fertilizer into the soil so that it can be absorbed in the winter. Then, when it enters a dormant period in winter, there is no need to apply fertilizer again.

two. Regarding the types and quantities of fertilizers for roses in winter:

1 For roses planted on the ground, you can dig a circular trench around the rhizome after pruning. Depending on the size of the plant, bury 200 to 300 grams of fertilizer cake for each plant. You can also apply 500 grams of poultry manure or 2.5-3 kilograms of fertile pond wet soil to meet the requirements for its growth and flowering in the second year.

2 For roses planted in pots, after pruning, you can remove the plant from the pot, shake off some of the long-standing soil, cut off the roots that have rotted and withered and died, replace them with fertile and loose culture soil, and at the same time bury 50-100 grams of decomposed and mature fertilizer cake in the lower middle part of the pot to achieve the requirements of growth and flowering in the second year.

3. Precautions for applying fertilizer to roses:

1. During the growth period, the main thing is to add fertilizer, and keep in mind the principle of applying small amounts of fertilizer and water multiple times. Mix 70% water and 30% fertilizer for fertilizer, and apply fertilizer about once a week. In any case, do not pour fertilizer directly into the pot without diluting it with water.

2. The fertilizer for this plant is mainly organic fertilizer, which can only be used after it is fully decomposed and matured.

3. Fertilization should be done on sunny days. Loosen the soil before applying fertilizer, and then do it at night when the soil is slightly dry, so that it is easier for the rose to absorb.

4. After fertilizing, you must apply "return water" the next day to reduce fertilizer damage.

5. When applying fertilizer, make sure the stems and leaves are not stained with fertilizer, and apply it along the edge of the pot.
