Pothos is a common ornamental green plant that can be propagated by cuttings. Generally speaking, maintaining suitable temperature and humidity conditions is conducive to the rooting and germination of green radish branches. 1. How many days does it take for the green radish to sprout after cutting?

It usually takes about 15 to 20 days for the green radish to germinate after cuttings. Under suitable conditions, the green radish will grow roots about a week after cuttings and sprout in about 15 days.

If you use the hydroponic method to propagate the pothos, that is, insert the pothos branches directly into the water for propagation, and maintain appropriate temperature, light and humidity conditions, the pothos branches are likely to take root within 7 to 15 days and begin to sprout in the next few days. In some cases, germination may be observed in just 10 days.

If you choose sand culture method or other substrates, such as leaf mold, perlite , vermiculite and other mixed substrates for cuttings, and maintain suitable environmental conditions, the rooting and germination time of the green radish branches may be slightly longer, but usually will not exceed one month.

2. Method of cutting green radish

1. Hydroponics

①Prepare materials: a pot of healthy green radish, a pair of scissors , and a transparent hydroponic bottle or container.

② Select branches: Cut a branch with aerial roots from the mother plant of the green radish, about 6 to 10 cm in length. It is best if the branch has a few leaves, but not too many leaves, to reduce water evaporation.

③Process the branches: Cut the branches into 45° to increase the water absorption area. At the same time, remove some of the leaves at the bottom of the branches and keep 1 to 2 leaves at the top.

④Insert into water: Insert the treated branches into the hydroponic bottle and add water to the 1/3~1/2 of the lower part of the branches. To promote rooting, you can add an appropriate amount of rooting powder or aspirin solution to the water.

⑤Maintenance and management : Place the hydroponic bottle in a cool and ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight. Before rooting, change the water every 2-3 days and clean the inner wall of the hydroponic bottle. After rooting, the frequency of water changes can be reduced, and the water can be changed once every 5-7 days. At the same time, pay attention to keeping the water clean to avoid bacterial growth.

2. Soil culture method

①Prepare materials: a pot of healthy green radish, a pair of scissors, a flower pot, and substrates such as nutrient soil or leaf mold.

② Select branches: Cut a semi-lignified branch about 10 cm long from the mother plant of the green radish, with aerial roots and a few leaves on it.

③Processing branches: Cut the branches into 45°, remove the leaves at the bottom of the branches, and keep a few leaves on the top. Similarly, you can insert the lower end of the branch into the rooting water and soak it for 1 to 2 minutes, and then proceed with cuttings after drying.

④ Cutting medium: Put the prepared medium into the flowerpot and water it thoroughly to make the medium moist. Then, dig a small hole in the substrate and insert the treated branches into the hole to a depth of about 1/2 of the branch.

⑤Maintenance and management: Place the flower pot in a cool and ventilated place, avoid direct sunlight. Keep the substrate moist but not waterlogged. Spray water on the leaves and around the pots every day to increase the air humidity. In about 20 days, the branches will take root and survive.
