How to propagate Michelia purpurogena by cuttings

How to propagate Michelia purpurogena by cuttings

1. Preparation

1. Choose a location

The location for planting Michelia purpurogenum should be selected in a nursery with relatively flat ground. It is best if such a place also has the advantages of convenient irrigation and high water level under the ground. The entire nursery plot needs to be tidied up to become a bed surface about one meter wide and 20 centimeters high, with the middle slightly higher than the surrounding areas. This type of bed surface can help us drain water better. The bed surface needs to be disinfected to a certain extent.

2. Choose raw materials

Of course, we must choose strong and disease-free purple-flowered Michelia branches for the mother plant for cuttings. If conditions permit, it is best to use one-year-old branches, which will help with the subsequent cutting work. If you don't use the branches immediately after cutting them, you need to put them in a place where they can't see the sun and sprinkle some water on them frequently to keep them hydrated. When using branches, trim them to about 6 cm, leaving only one or two leaves, and then soak the bottom in naphthaleneacetic acid for about an hour.

2. Technical requirements

1. Methods

We should carry out cuttings of Michelia purpurogena in spring or autumn. There should be a distance of three to five centimeters between each cutting branch to provide space for their growth. The leaves left on the branches should face the same direction and must not overlap. After the branches are inserted into the soil, press them tightly several times with a tool to ensure that there are no gaps in the middle. After completing the above work, water the branches with plenty of water to ensure that they are thoroughly watered.

2. Subsequent management

After all the branches have been cut, a 50-centimeter-high shed should be built on the bed. A thin layer of film should be covered on the shed and it should be sealed. This will ensure the humidity and temperature during the growth of Michelia rubra. Flower lovers also need to pay attention to the need to regularly observe changes in moisture, temperature, etc. in the shed and make timely adjustments.
