Potato planting time

The planting time of potatoes is generally from October to December , and the harvest time is from January to March of the following year. Of course, if the climatic conditions permit, potatoes can be planted all year round in theory, but the specific planting time depends on the climatic conditions and planting conditions of different regions.

1. One-season cropping areas in the north and northwest

Including Northeast China, Gansu, Qinghai and other regions, it is generally planted in mid-to-late April to early May and harvested in autumn.

2. The Central Plains area

Including Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Hunan, Hebei and other regions, spring potatoes are generally planted in February and March , and the harvest season is June and July; autumn potatoes are planted in August (around the Mid-Autumn Festival) and harvested in October to early November.

3. Central and southern two-season cropping area

Including some areas in central and southern China such as Jiangsu, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, spring potatoes can generally be planted in January and February and harvested in May and June; autumn potatoes are planted in September and harvested in December.

4. Southern winter cropping area

Including Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Yunnan and other places, you can use the gap after the autumn rice harvest to plant a season of potatoes. Generally, it is sown from mid-to-late October to November and harvested in February or March of the following year.

Potato high-yield planting method

1. Land preparation

   High-yield potato cultivation requires meticulous land preparation, deep plowing and fine harrowing to loosen the soil and improve its ability to retain water and fertilizer. In addition, it can also reduce the occurrence of field diseases and pests.

2. Seed potato processing

   Before sowing, the seeds are dried and cut . In this process, the mixed potatoes, diseased potatoes, and rotten potatoes are selected, and the seeds are soaked with drugs such as carbendazim and difenoconazole. Sowing can be carried out after drying, which plays a good preventive role in some diseases.

3. Fertilization

   Different fertilizers are applied as base fertilizers according to different plots of land. Generally, if there is farmyard manure, decomposed farmyard manure can be applied. Some pesticides such as chlorpyrifos and phoxim can also be sprinkled in to make the potatoes grow better after planting and achieve high yield.
