The shaping, pruning and flowering period control of Rhododendron ovata

Plastic pruning

In order to make the plants grow faster and look more luxuriant, they need to be pruned, and this plant is the same. Usually, new branches and leaves are pinched to allow them to grow. If it will affect the amount of flowers and the shape of the flower buds, you can also thin them out as soon as possible. This will improve the quality of the flowers this year, making the flowers larger and the colors brighter, etc. It also lays the groundwork for the growth and flowering of the plants in the second year.

This plant has a very strong germination ability, which will have a great impact on the growth of the plant and reduce the ornamental effect of the plant, so it is necessary to trim the branches to balance the growth of the plant. The best time to prune branches is after all the flowers have withered. All the overgrown branches, dry branches, slanting branches, and diseased and insect-infested branches should be pruned away. Branches and forks should also be properly pruned to reduce nutrient loss.

Flowering control

Move the plants that have already grown flower buds to a lower temperature environment for maintenance, about 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. Reduce watering and do not water until the soil in the pot is completely dry. Then in summer or autumn, place it directly outdoors for maintenance, and it will bloom in about 15 days.

There is another method, if you want it to bloom at a specified time, you have to control the temperature between 20 and 25 degrees in advance, and then spray water on the leaves and branches of the plant frequently to keep the humidity of the environment above 80%, so that it will bloom in about 45 days.
