How to choose the right flower pot

How to choose the right flower pot

According to plant shape

Hanging flowers and trees such as wisteria, spider plants, ivy, etc. usually choose tall cylindrical flower pots. These flower pots have small mouths and deep pots, which contrast with the hanging branches and vines, adding some interest.

However, clumping flowers and trees such as rhododendron, Milan, crabapple, pomegranate, and cineraria have a relatively large area of branches and leaves and are suitable for large flower pots.

According to plant size

If the flowerpot is too small, the plant will appear top-heavy and the roots will have difficulty stretching and growing; if the flowerpot is too large, the soil in the pot will hold too much water, but the plant's leaves will be small, so less water will evaporate and the soil will not dry out easily, affecting the plant's root respiration and in severe cases causing root rot.

According to plant height

When the plant is tall, use a larger flowerpot; when it is shorter, use a smaller flowerpot. The overall visual effect will be better.

According to the growth habit of the plant

Flowers that like moisture, such as Monstera, Cyperus, Chlorophytum, Fern, Green ivy, and Areca palm, can be planted in plastic pots. Orchids, plum blossoms, and tree stump bonsai have high requirements for air permeability and drainage, so they can be planted in clay pots.

According to flower color

Generally speaking, flowers with lighter foliage are paired with dark pots, and dark flowers are paired with light pots, creating a contrast between the dark and light colors.

According to the space

The flowerpots should fit the space, and the texture and color of the potted plants should be coordinated with the furniture and objects to enhance the beauty and comfort of the room interior.
