Taboos of Cockscomb Cultivation in Winter

Taboos of Cockscomb Cultivation in Winter

Less watering in winter

The temperature is low in winter, so the water loss is less. In addition, cockscomb is afraid of excessive humidity or waterlogging, so watering must be reduced in winter. Otherwise, if it is kept in moisture for a long time, its roots will easily be eroded by diseases. However, it does not mean that it should not be watered throughout the winter.

Sunshine is indispensable in winter

Although it does not need to be placed in the sun all day in winter, it must be placed in the sun for more than 4 hours a day. Of course, it would be best if it can be placed in the sun all day. If there is not enough light, it will greatly affect its appearance and cause poor plant growth.

Winter temperature should not be too low

The growth temperature is between 18 and 28 degrees. Lower temperatures will reduce its growth rate, and it will die in winter if planted outdoors in the north.

Fertilization can be suspended in winter

Apply enough base fertilizer before planting, and then apply fertilizer before and during the flowering period. No fertilizer is needed in winter. Its growth rate is slow in winter, so the demand for fertilizer will be greatly reduced. If you still apply fertilizer normally at this time, it will cause fertilizer damage.

If you plant it outdoors for a long time, you must choose a place with plenty of sunlight, sheltered from the wind and not prone to water accumulation, so that it will be easier to maintain in winter.
