How to grow arrowroot well

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: The temperature suitable for its growth is between 15 and 25 degrees. If the temperature is below 16 degrees, ventilation is generally not required. If the outside temperature is above 16 degrees, you can ventilate it more.

2. Watering: It likes a humid environment and does not like a dry environment. If the air is too dry, the branches and leaves of the plant will dry out and the growth will be slow. During the growth period, water is needed every day to ensure that the air humidity is above 85%.

3. Fertilization: It likes fertilizer and needs to be fertilized once a week during the growth period. You can use a mixture of 0.2% urea and 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate. If the temperature is higher than 30 degrees, you need to stop fertilizing.

4. Light: It likes partial shade and cannot tolerate direct sunlight. It needs shade from late spring to early autumn. If the light is too strong, the leaves of the plant will become dry and white. If the light is too weak, the leaves of the plant will lose their luster and break more easily. Therefore, avoid strong light when exposed to light. Generally speaking, the daily lighting time should be guaranteed to be more than four hours.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by cuttings. When propagating, choose the tender branches at the top and cut them into about 15 centimeters. Keep one-third of the leaves on the tender branches to avoid excessive evaporation of water. Then use naphthaleneacetic acid to treat it for three seconds. After completing the above operations, insert the tender branches into the culture medium and ensure that the culture environment is around 20 degrees. It will grow roots in about ten days.

2. Pruning: Generally, no pruning is required, just cut off the dead branches and leaves.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Diseases: Common diseases include damping-off disease, which can be treated by spraying 50% of carbendazim once every ten days for one month.

2. Pests: It is more susceptible to scale insects. If insects are found on the plant, you can use 40% cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate for spraying treatment. If the infection is not very serious, you can peel it off manually. After the root cause is cured, spray it with thiophanate-methyl once every month to enhance its resistance.

IV. Other issues

1. Edibility: The powder it makes is basically all starch, which can be used as a thickener for food. Therefore, it is edible.

2. Toxicity: It is non-toxic.
