How to propagate bamboo orchid

How to propagate bamboo orchid

1. Growth habits

First, let’s understand the growth habits of bamboo orchid, which can help the survival rate in the later stage. The air in the environment where Bamboo Leaf Orchid lives must have good circulation and cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. It likes cool and humid environment, not too dry. The temperature should be kept between 15 and 30 degrees. Too high or too low temperature will affect its growth. Bamboo Leaf Orchid has a slightly high requirement for the soil. It needs sandy soil rich in humus. The soil should have better air permeability and drainage. The pH value needs to be between 5.5 and 6.5.

2. Seed propagation

1. Bamboo leaf orchid can be harvested and sown through artificial pollination. When the mature mother plant grows out and begins to bloom, it can be pollinated with a tender brush. When the seeds are mature, they can be picked and sown.

2. Sow the seeds in a small water tank covered with 5 cm thick water. After a few days, white roots and small wavy leaves will grow. When the leaves grow to 10 cm in length and the rhizome grows to about 1 cm in length, they can be transplanted and cultivated.

3. Division propagation

1. Division propagation can be carried out once in spring or autumn, and healthy bamboo orchids should be selected for division.

2. Be sure to water before dividing the plants to ensure the survival rate.

3. After division, the potting soil should be made by first covering the bottom of the pot with a layer of broken tiles to retain water, and then covering it with a layer of coarse-grained stones and a small amount of clean river sand to ensure the air permeability of the potting soil.

4. Insert the divided seedlings into the potting soil, water them thoroughly, and place them in a cool place for half a month, making sure to keep the soil moist.

5. After the seedlings are truly alive and have taken root, you can reduce watering and start normal maintenance.

The flowers of the bamboo orchid are very bright and fragrant. It is an orchid that is relatively easy to grow. Friends who like it can plant one themselves!
