How to tell age from Clivia

How to tell age from Clivia

1. Number of blades

In a normal maintenance environment, it will grow about 6-8 leaves every year. The age can be judged based on the leaves that grow, but this method is not very accurate because some old leaves will fall off as it grows, so it can only be a rough estimate. Because the old leaves will fall off, some roots will grow like the roots of cabbage. These are older, usually more than 5 years old. The roots are usually smoother and the leaves have not been renewed many times, so they are relatively young.

2. Bulb length

The age of growth is closely related to the length of the bulb. The older the age, the longer the bulb underneath will be. This is a more accurate estimation method. You can choose to do it at the same time as repotting, so as to avoid damage to the plant by pulling it out for no reason, and achieve the effect of killing two birds with one stone.

3. Growth

The growth of the plant is also related to its age. In addition to the maintenance factor, if the growth is not good, it may be that the maintenance time is too long and the plant is too old. If it is still growing well, it means it is relatively young.
