How to water succulent bulbs

How to water succulent bulbs

1. Time to water succulent bulbs

1. Spring

Spring is the peak growth season for succulent bulbs when the temperature reaches 15 to 25°C. Water them once every 5 to 7 days.

2. Summer

The temperature is too high in summer, which is the dormant period of succulent bulbs. Pay attention to ventilation and appropriate shading. There is a layer of old leaves on the surface of succulent bulbs that can absorb water, so do not water too much in summer. To avoid the soil being too wet or too dry. You can soak the pot of the succulent bulb in water, or you can use the drip watering method. Do not spray water directly on the plant to avoid affecting the plant's normal breathing. Controlling watering can also cause the moisture in the surface layer of old leaves to evaporate and become thinner, clinging to the young leaves.

3. Autumn

As the weather becomes cooler in autumn, the succulent bulbs wake up and you can resume watering.

4. Winter

In winter, the temperature is low and the growth rate of succulent bulbs is slow, so reduce the frequency of watering and water once every 15-20 days.

2. Tips for watering succulent bulbs

When watering succulent bulbs, do not water from the top, but from the sides or roots. Do not let water remain on the leaves to avoid damage to the leaves due to high water temperature.

3. The amount of watering for succulent bulbs

Succulent bulbs are afraid of waterlogging, so the principle of not watering unless the soil is dry and watering thoroughly when necessary should be adopted. The growing period of succulent bulbs is from September of each year to April-May of the following year. You can place it in a sunny place to avoid water accumulation, otherwise its skin will easily crack and look tattered, affecting its ornamental value. When brown spots or rot appear on the leaves of succulent bulbs, stop watering and it will slowly recover.
