Common diseases and pests of Lily of the Valley and their control

1. Diseases

(1) The first type is called “gray mold”. It is a disease caused by fungi. This disease is more common when the temperature and humidity are high. Its damage range is relatively wide, and leaves, flowers and stems may all be affected. To prevent and control it, you first need to clean up the diseased parts. In addition, you can spray some pesticides, such as metalaxyl and so on. Also, subsequent management is very important. For example, when applying fertilizer, apply more fertilizers containing P and K elements to improve disease resistance. Also, increase ventilation and don't water too much on rainy days.

(2) The second disease is called “root rot”. As the name suggests, it mainly harms the roots. First, rot will occur at the roots of the plant. Then, the entire plant may die due to the inability to absorb water and nutrients. This disease often occurs from March to May. You can also use metalaxyl to treat this disease. In addition, disinfecting the soil is also a good idea.

(3) The third type is called damping-off disease, which also mainly harms the roots. It may cause some brown spots to appear on the plant. In the worst cases, it will gradually dry up and die. If infected with this disease, we must first disinfect the soil. Then there is spraying of pesticides, such as thiophanate-methyl and so on.

2. Pests

There are many pests that harm this plant, such as aphids, grubs, cutworms, etc. They often appear in groups, so they are relatively more harmful. The most effective way to deal with them is to spray various pesticides. For example, omethoate and so on.
