How to grow more lateral buds on the money tree

1. Cut off the head to produce side shoots

It is actually very simple to cut down the money tree, and it is also easy to keep it alive. Just use scissors to cut off the top of the bead. Both the mother bead and the cut one will sprout many small buds. Place the wound in a ventilated place to dry for 1-2 days, then place it in the soil. Do not compact it or water it. Just pot it directly with dry soil.

In a few days you will find that many small sprouts are growing on it, and they are growing quickly and in large numbers. There are more and more tender shoots, and it is no problem for one tree to become ten. If you want to propagate more money trees instead of having old stumps, wait until the side shoots grow up and then cut them off and plant them in the soil.

2. Pull out the leaves and lateral buds

Side buds may grow in places where the leaves of the money tree have fallen off. This method can be used if the money tree is in good condition. It is best not to use this method when you are just repotting or dividing the plant. Not only may you fail to stimulate the growth of side buds, but you may also kill the mother plant.

Remove the large leaves under the money tree, remove as many as you can tolerate, take good care of it and wait patiently for the side buds to grow. The torn leaves can also be used for leaf cuttings (leaves with petioles are best).

Money tree has no requirements for light and can be placed as an indoor bonsai for a long time. However, the environment cannot be too dark when new leaves are growing, otherwise the new leaves will become slender and the distance between leaves will increase, affecting the appearance. In summer, place the money tree in a place away from direct sunlight to prevent it from being burned by the sun.

During the golden period of growth, it can be applied once every 30 days. You can also add some nutrient solution with high iron content to prevent the leaves from turning yellow. In winter, you can move it to a place with more sunlight, do not water it or water it less, do not give it fertilizer, and maintain the room temperature at 10℃. Careful maintenance to keep the money tree in good condition is the key to allowing the money tree to grow more side buds.
