How to water coleus

Coleus and moisture

This plant generally prefers moisture, and the soil and surrounding environment need to be kept moist to a certain degree, not too dry; however, there should not be too much water, otherwise it will cause the plant to grow wildly and destroy the overall shape. Generally speaking, just keep the soil in the pot slightly moist.

Watering method

During the period of rapid plant growth, water should be replenished in time to prevent the surrounding environment from becoming too dry. Generally speaking, when the soil in the pot turns white in spring and autumn and the weight of the clay pot becomes noticeably lighter, you can add enough water. But not too much, otherwise the plant will grow too tall.

In summer, because the plant has a large leaf area, the evaporation is also large, so it must be watered enough. Otherwise, the plants will wilt. However, when watering during this period, you should first place the plants in a cool place to lower the temperature of the clay pots before watering (this is to prevent the roots of the plants from being injured by the temperature difference), and you should water them thoroughly.

In winter, the amount and frequency of watering must be strictly controlled, and you can choose to water it every two to three days.

Some points to pay special attention to

When watering in summer, do not choose the afternoon when the light is particularly strong. You should choose a time when the light is mild or there is no light.

Also note that during rainy times, it is okay to give the plants a moderate amount of rain. However, it will not work if there is too much water in the pot. Too much water will reduce the oxygen in the potting soil, which will hinder the normal respiration of the roots and affect the roots' absorption of nutrients.

Of course, in addition to watering, you can also increase humidity by spraying water on the leaves.
