How to deal with the dragon boat flower after it withers

When is its flowering period?

In fact, the flowering period of the Ixora is very long, and its charming flowers can be seen almost from March to December every year. If you live in the warm southern regions, there are flowers to enjoy all year round.

Specific treatment methods

First, it is best to prune the plant after the flowers have faded. Diseased branches, weak branches, dead branches and old branches all need to be pruned. Among them, diseased branches must be ruthlessly pruned off at the roots. Other dead branches and old branches can be pruned, or you can leave them alone and wait for them to slowly wither and fall. Just keep a few branches to maintain the shape of the whole plant. 】

Second, fertilizer should be added in time after the flowers fade. The Ixora itself is a plant that prefers fertilizer, not to mention that flowering consumes too much of its nutrients. The base fertilizer can be decomposed animal manure such as cow dung. In addition, cake fertilizer should be applied once a week or so. Also, the remaining water after washing rice is extremely good for plant growth, so this is also a good choice. No matter what fertilizer you choose, you must of course consider the three elements of K, P, and N comprehensively. It is not enough to pay attention to only one element one-sidedly.

Third, there must be enough fertilizer, and of course there must also be some requirements for watering. If you only fertilize without watering accordingly, the plants may be damaged, so timely watering is necessary.

Fourth, after the flowers fade, you can choose to pinch off the flower buds, that is, cut off the flower buds after the flowers fade. It depends on your mood. It won’t have much impact if you don’t cut it. However, if you want to collect seeds, that's a different story. You can use a mesh bag to cover the entire flower, and then wait for the seeds to mature and fall into the bag, and then you can use it to sow.
