How to fertilize morning glory

How to fertilize morning glory

Does this plant require a lot of fertilizer?

In fact, morning glory does not have high requirements for fertilizer or even soil. However, although it is not high, there are still certain requirements after all, and fertilizing in the correct way also has an important impact on its growth at each stage.

Suitable fertilizers to use

We all know that the three elements N, P and K are as indispensable to plants as water is to humans, so we should choose fertilizers that contain sufficient amounts of these three elements. Do not only apply fertilizer containing N elements, otherwise it will cause the branches and leaves of the plant to grow wildly, but the number of flowers will be small.

Different requirements for fertilization in different situations

Under normal circumstances, it is sufficient to apply it once a month, and it is best to choose liquid fertilizer (the kind that is well-rotted).

Summer is the fastest growing period, so you need to apply fertilizer frequently, about once every half a month.

When plants are about to bloom, their nutrient requirements are particularly high. Therefore, in addition to the use of basal fertilizer, additional fertilizer should be applied one or two times.

It is different during the cold period. The temperature starts to turn cold in late autumn and lasts until winter comes. During this period, plant growth is sluggish, so it is not advisable to apply too much fertilizer, or even stop fertilizing directly.

Also pay special attention to

This plant itself does not require too much fertilizer, so no matter what period of time, even when it is growing fastest, you should avoid over-fertilizing. Generally speaking, once every two weeks is considered quite frequent. Although I can understand friends' desire for it to grow fast and well, it is really not good for it to be over-treated.

In addition to the fertilizer water used for supplementary fertilizer, base fertilizer can be applied to the soil in advance. Doing this will make the process a little different. Generally speaking, if you have base fertilizer, you should apply it once a month; if you don’t have base fertilizer, you should apply it once every two weeks or twenty days.
