The difference between Cymbidium and Molan

The difference between Cymbidium and Molan

1. Leaves

If you are not sure what they are, Huahua recommends that you look at the leaves. Of course, both must be present so that you can make a comparison. The leaves of Cymbidium are much narrower and feel rougher than its counterpart. The leaves of Mo Lan are obviously wider and smoother. In addition to these two points, its leaves are also much more shiny.

2. Pseudobulb

This is another way to identify them, and this method is more convenient as you don’t need to have them all at the same time to identify them. The pseudobulb of Cymbidium is quite tiny and almost invisible if you don't look closely. The ones of Molan are particularly large and spherical.

3. Flowering period

When growing orchids, you want to see not only its leaves but also its flowers. There is also a big difference in the time when their flowers bloom. Generally speaking, Cymbidium orchids bloom in April and May, while Mo orchids bloom later, in winter, from approximately October to March of the following year. Therefore, the flowering period is very obvious. If someone sees its flowers blooming but doesn’t know which kind of orchid it is, they can start from this aspect.

4. Flowers

There are many varieties of Cymbidium orchid. Its petals are quite large and come in many colors, including red, yellow, green, pink, white, purple, etc. In addition to these colors, the transitional colors and complex colors of these colors are also part of the colors of its flowers. Its flower stems are particularly straight, and people generally use them as potted plants and fresh cut flowers. There are relatively few colors of Mo Lan, generally dark purple and purple-brown, of course it also has yellow-green, pink and white. And its flower scent is quite strong.
