Common varieties of blue fescue, each one will amaze you!

Variety Type

There are many varieties of blue fescue. Let’s take a look at them first. The first one is a very blue one among the blue fescue called Ellie Blue Fescue, and then there is a blue-gray blue fescue that is similar to it. There are also the sturdier Harz blue fescue, the blue-gray blue fescue with thinner leaves, and the shorter copper blue fescue, which is only 30 cm tall.

The most common varieties

The most famous type of blue fescue is the smaller type, such as the bluer Ellie blue fescue. This blue fescue grows relatively short and has soft leaves. It is blue in summer and turns green in winter. The crown of the plant accounts for two-thirds of the entire plant and grows into a round pad shape of about 30 cm.

There is another common variety, its name is the same as the previous one, also called Ellie Blue Fescue, but this is the real Ellie Blue Fescue. In early summer, it produces a cone-shaped inflorescence that turns light brown. Many people grow it because of the color change, but many people also say they don't like it.

Propagation of Blue Fescue

Blue fescue seedlings are generally around 15 to 25 centimeters in height. As they continue to grow, they will grow outward, and eventually the center will die, but the rest will continue to grow, gradually forming an independent plant. In order to prevent this from happening, it is usually divided when it is two or three years old, so that it can grow better.
