What to do if the gardenia flowers turn yellow

What to do if the gardenia flowers turn yellow

1. Moisture problem

(1) Specific reasons: This problem is more common in the north, namely water shortage. This plant is very fond of water. If the flowers begin to turn yellow, they may be deprived of water.

(2) Solution: Increase the amount of water appropriately. If it still doesn't work, you can try the following methods. To put it simply, it means soaking in water for half an hour to an hour every day. Place the plant and the entire pot in a bucket or a large basin. Doing this will allow the water to fully penetrate into the soil. Afterwards, take it out and drain the water. Then place it in a cool place. In addition to this, you can also spray it with water every day. Of course, if it rains, you can take a shower for a while.

2. Lighting issues

(1) Specific reason: Excessive exposure to light for too long will not only affect the leaves but may also cause the flowers to turn yellow.

(2) Solution: No light at all is definitely not acceptable, but too much light is also not good. Generally speaking, even when flowering, two hours a day or so is enough. This is because this plant prefers shade and does not need too much light even when it blooms.

3. Normal phenomenon

Sometimes, it’s not that there’s something wrong with our maintenance, but it’s normal. This plant is a little different in that the flowers are creamy white at first, then may slowly turn yellow before withering. In other words, yellowing is a sign of withering. Therefore, there is no need to take any remedial measures.
