How to prune Guanyin bamboo

How to prune Guanyin bamboo

Hydroponic Pruning

There are two ways to grow Guanyin bamboo. Let’s talk about hydroponics first. This method is simple and convenient, so it is often used to grow Guanyin bamboo. When hydroponically cultivating, the leaves of the Guanyin bamboo need to be trimmed, the leaves that are deep in the water need to be removed, and the leaves wrapped around the stems need to be peeled off to ensure that the stems in the water are clean. This will expose the green bamboo nodes, which will facilitate water changes later and effectively prevent the stems from staying in the water for a long time, causing the water to deteriorate. Before putting it into water, the bottom of the Guanyin bamboo should be cut into an oblique shape to make it easier for the plant to absorb water and nutrients.

Soil cultivation pruning

When choosing the soil culture method, it should be noted that during the growth period of Guanyin Bamboo, many tender stems will grow from the roots, which will easily affect the growth of the plant. If the plant grows too tall during the growth process, it will affect the appearance of Guanyin Bamboo. We can cut off the excessively high parts to make it look neater. The growth of Guanyin bamboo should reflect its shape and charm, with its branches arranged in an orderly manner and of moderate height. If the branches are too dense, it will appear to lack connotation and affect its ornamental value. Therefore, we need to remove the branches that grow too densely and prune them according to our preferences without affecting the overall shape of the plant to make the Guanyin bamboo look relatively coordinated. During the growth and maturity period, some old and weak branches should be pruned in time, so as to always maintain the ornamental value of Guanyin bamboo.
