celery

Celery can be said to be a must-have in the kitchen. Whether it is served cold or stir-fried, it is refreshing and appetizing. Just think about going to the market every day and spending 2 yuan to buy celery, that would be 700 yuan a year, which is really not cheap. As flower growers, we might as well plant a few ourselves.

① Before cooking, remember to cut off the celery head (about 4-6cm), don’t throw it away this time.

② Rinse the turnips slightly and prepare a small plate or bowl with some water. Then stand the celery head on it. If you can't stand steadily, you can lean against it.

③ After finishing, move it to a bright windowsill and let it enjoy the sunbath. Change the water every other day and spray the turnip with water. After staying near the window for about 5-7 days, the stems and leaves on the edges will become dry and yellow, and the originally tender yellow leaves in the middle will turn tender green.

④ At this point, we are halfway done. Then all we have to do is transfer the celery head into the flowerpot, cover the dry and yellow part on the outside with soil, and leave the small bud on the top exposed.

⑤ Then remember to water thoroughly every 2-3 days to keep the soil moist. After about a week, you can see celery sprouts growing.

⑥ Celery grows very fast, and it will have lush branches and leaves in about 3-4 weeks. If you don't mind, you can already eat it~

Shallots

Scallions are also a must-have in the kitchen. If you plant a pot of them at home, you can enjoy them and use them for cooking at any time. It is very convenient.

① Buy fresh green onions, keep the roots and do not wash the dirt off them.

② Cut off the onion head, leaving about 4-5cm above the root.

③ Prepare the flower pots. The soil can be a mixture of leaf mold and decomposed cake fertilizer. Bury the green onions in the soil, leaving the top 1/2 exposed, cover with soil, and flatten lightly.

④ Place it in a sunny place and water it about once every 2-3 days. After a week, new shoots will grow where the onion roots are. At this time, you can apply more organic fertilizer.

⑤ After about 1-2 months, it can be eaten. Be careful not to pull it out by the roots, just pinch it off. This ensures that it will continue to grow next time, and you can continue to eat fresh green onions~

garlic

Garlic is a seasoning often used in cooking. Without garlic, the dishes may be tasteless. We can try to grow some at home. Now is the early autumn season, which is more suitable.

① Prepare healthy garlic cloves. You can tear off the skin before sowing. If you are lazy, you don’t need to peel them. They will sprout and grow anyway. They are so easy to grow.

② Prepare the flower pot and spray some water on the soil to make it slightly wet. Insert the garlic clove into the soil with the bud facing up.

③ Small buds will emerge in about a week. At this time, you need to expose it to the sun frequently to prevent it from growing thin and weak.

④ When the garlic seedlings grow to 8-10cm, you can apply some organic fertilizer appropriately. If they are too dense, thinning is necessary.

⑤ After about 1-2 months, you can pick it and eat it. Be careful not to pull up the roots, leave about 2 cm at the bottom so that 2-3 crops can grow next time. In addition, plump white garlic will slowly grow as shown in the picture. You can eat it or save it for sowing next time.

Chinese chives

Speaking of chives, I think of the endless harvest of chives, chive eggs, chive boxes, and chive and egg dumplings... They are so delicious and easy to grow, how can you not have a pot on your balcony~

① If you want to grow chives, first you need a packet of seeds. Then soak them in water for about 12 hours, wrap the soaked seeds with wet cloth, and place them in a bright and ventilated place indoors. Water the cloth thoroughly with clean water 1-2 times a day.

② After about 5-7 days, the seeds will show small white sprouts, and then they can be sown. Soak the soil, then bury the seeds shallowly, cover them with a thin layer of fine soil, and compact them lightly.

Then you can also cover the flower pot with a layer of film (if you don’t have one, forget it), and place it in a cool and ventilated place, and it will germinate smoothly in 1-2 weeks.

③ Before the leeks emerge, water them once every 2-3 days. After the leeks emerge, water them about once a week. At the same time, apply a little organic fertilizer to make them grow more vigorously. After germination, the chives can be moved to a place with sufficient light.

④ The growing period of leek is about 3 months. When the seedlings grow to about 20cm, they can be eaten.

⑤ After cutting a crop of leeks each time, you can apply some nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to facilitate the regrowth of leeks. You can harvest 1-2 crops almost every month.
