How to fertilize Aspidistra

How to fertilize Aspidistra

1. Time

Because the effect of fertilizer lasts for a long time, we cannot apply fertilizer again just a few days after applying it, as this will cause its roots to be burned. Generally speaking, it is only necessary to apply fertilizer once or twice a month. As for the seasons, except for winter when fertilizing should be stopped, some flower fertilizers need to be applied in spring, summer and autumn.

As for winter, we need to transplant it into the room. From this time on, we need to water it less and absolutely cannot fertilize it, otherwise it will easily cause its roots to rot.

2. Specific operations

We know that this kind of plant needs to be repotted every one or two years. The soil for repotting needs to be a mixture of rotten leaves, river sand, etc., and fertilizer needs to be applied when repotting. Generally, we use some broken bones and cake fertilizer as the base, and then place it in a cooler place after transplanting. At this time, we also need to water it sufficiently and spray some on the leaves. After that, we need to apply fertilizer once or twice every month. This way, new leaves will grow more easily and the whole plant will grow healthier.

3. Notes

① You have to apply fertilizer to it, otherwise it will easily cause it to grow slowly and become too tall. In addition, the leaves may turn yellow and black, etc. However, the amount should be controlled well, because too much will cause it to grow bad. If the symptoms are mild, it can be saved, but if the symptoms are severe, you can only give up this plant.

② If it is a variety with variegated leaves, we should apply less fertilizer. If it is too much, the spots on it will disappear easily.

③You can use decomposed human and animal manure as flower fertilizer, or you can buy it in the market.
