How to grow geranium in summer

How to grow geranium in summer

7 elements of geranium summer care

1. If you plant geraniums in potted plants in summer, it is best to choose a smaller flowerpot that is not too deep to ensure adequate moisture.

2. The summer sun is quite strong and the soil can easily become hot. Generally, we only need to ensure that it is exposed to direct sunlight for a total of two hours in the morning and evening. Be sure to provide shade at other times, and just place it in a bright place with scattered light.

3. Pay attention to ventilation. You can put a small fan to maintain ventilation. If there is an air-conditioned flower, the temperature can be slightly higher to increase ventilation.

4. Avoid consuming too much nutrients. If the plant is relatively small, you can appropriately cut off some old leaves and flower buds, leaving some green and tender leaves.

5. Don't apply too much fertilizer in the summer. In addition to continuing to use potassium fertilizer normally, reduce the use of phosphorus fertilizer and stop using nitrogen fertilizer. The normal use of potassium fertilizer is to allow the root system of the plant to grow better.

6. When watering, do not spray water on the leaves too frequently, because high temperatures will cause the wet leaves to rot and affect the growth of the plant.

7. At night, you can spray some low-concentration glucose on the leaves. Wash the leaves with clean water the next day and do a good job of ventilation. Be careful not to cause water accumulation on the leaves.

Precautions

Fungi and bacteria are prone to grow in summer, so good hygiene and cleaning are required.
