How to plant angelica

soil

Angelica is suitable for planting at an altitude of about 2,500 meters and prefers a dark and humid environment. It is best to plant it on a cool hillside away from sunlight, where the soil is loose and flat.

sowing

The ripe fruits of angelica are picked around the beginning of summer, dried naturally in a cool and dry place and used as seeds. The best time to plant them is between late May and early June of the following year.

The seeds are evenly spread on the soil surface and covered with a layer of soil about five millimeters thick.

After germination, if weeds grow around them, they should be cleaned up in time, and it is best to pull them out directly by hand. Be careful not to damage the new shoots when pulling them out; if the new shoots are too close together, pull out the extra ones immediately.

transplant

Counting from the time the seeds are sown on the ground, the angelica seedlings need to be dug out of the ground about 110 days later. Be gentle when digging to avoid damaging the roots. About 90 seedlings can be bundled together and taken back for storage. It is best to store the seedlings in a cool and dry place for about half a month.

After about half a month, transplant the angelica seedlings to an altitude of about 2,500 meters for planting, and the surface of the soil for planting should be flat. When planting, the spacing should be well controlled and should not be too dense. The planting depth should not exceed 5cm, and weeding during the growing period should be done to prevent damage to the roots. No herbicides or pesticides are allowed. During this period, attention should be paid to soil drought and flood, irrigation and drainage. Apply fertilizer appropriately.

In early June, the relatively weak, unhealthy and overgrown seedlings should be removed. Prevent affecting the normal growth of other seedlings.

Angelica is best harvested in mid-to-late October.
